NY State Assemblyman Wright Endorses Ben Kallos for City Council

Today, Assemblyman Keith Wright endorsed Ben Kallos to represent Manhattan’s Fifth district in the City Council for his innovative ideas and commitment to equal rights and opportunities.

“I look forward to having Ben as a partner in government. As founder of the NY Democratic Law Students Council, he’ll be a strong advocate for voting rights and community involvement in important decision making. His political skills and passion for improving quality of life for all New Yorkers will be great assets to the City Council,” said Assemblyman Wright.

Wright currently serves as Chairman of the New York County Democratic Party and co-Chair of the New York State Democratic Committee, as well as holding membership in a number of Assembly committees such as, Housing, Correction, Ways and Means, and Codes. As the Chair of the Housing Committee in the New York State Assembly, Wright has worked to protect rent control and continues to advocate for the rights of tenants through his membership in the Subcommittee on Public Housing.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Assemblyman Wright, who has a strong record of protecting small businesses and backing legislation for a more affordable city. Throughout the course of our work together on voting rights advocacy, I’ve been inspired by his passion for legal and political justice,” said Kallos.
