Issue:
Roosevelt Island
Solution:
Improve Democratic Process on Roosevelt Island by Putting More Roosevelt Island Residents on the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) Board Explanation:
Currently, the nine-person RIOC Board of Directors, as well as the President and CEO, are appointed by the Governor with two ex-oficio members representing DHCR and the Budget. Five members of the Board are Island residents. A residency requirement should be implemented for all members of the Board of Directors. Furthermore, RIOC Board members should be elected by Island residents rather than appointed by the Governor.
