Roosevelt Island
As a third generation Upper East Sider, I have deep roots in the community including on Roosevelt Island where my grandfather, Dr. Andrew Kallos, served patients at Coler-Goldwater Memorial Hospital upon completing his distinguished service in the United States Armed services during World War II.
As a Chief of Staff to an Upper East Side Assembly Member and longtime member of Community Board 8 Manhattan, I have kept the needs of Roosevelt Island residents at the forefront of my agenda. Working alongside resident leaders to fight for "Democracy on Roosevelt Island" through recognition of the Governor of elections for Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) Board Members and "Access Roosevelt Island" to provide transportation alternatives for Roosevelt Island.
I will continue to fight for responsible development on Roosevelt Island of the infrastructure improvements that will be required to better support the existing 12,000 residents as well as the 2,780 new students and faculty that Cornell NYC Tech will bring.

Expand Proposed Bike-Share Program to Roosevelt Island
Explanation:
In recent years, bike lanes have been expanded across the entire city and more cyclists have taken advantage of these changes. In March 2013, a city-wide bike-share program will begin with 7,000 bikes and 420 stations. The program will expand to 10,000 bikes and 600 stations by summer 2013. We need to ensure that this program is expanded to Roosevelt Island and place a bike station near the tram.

Save $7 million by Converting the Power Plant into the Roosevelt Island Technology, Arts and Sciences (RITAS Museum) to Provide Roosevelt Island as well as New York City and State with a Valuable Cultural Center Serving Our New Technology Community
Explanation:
Currently, the future of the Steam Plant, which is located near Goldwater Hospital, is uncertain. Rather than demolishing the Steam Plant, we propose converting it into a museum similar to London’s Tate Modern. This museum will attract visitors and provide a permanent space for Gallery RIVAA.

Minimize Impact of Cornell NYC Tech Construction on Roosevelt Island Residents by Bringing Construction Materials by Waterway
Explanation:
Construction of the proposed Cornell/Technion campus will lead to more traffic on Roosevelt Island and be unpleasant for many residents. Building a pier and docks near the proposed campus would allow Cornell to transport construction materials via barges and reduce the use of land transport. We must also work with the MTA to determine how to improve and increase Subway Service to Manhattan, especially during the morning commute.
